'I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review 'Gretchen is Sara's best friend. They surprisingly have only known each other for about a year but you would think that they have known each other for years. When Gretchen loses her job she goes to visit with Sara and Xanthus. While there she meets Kyros, Xanthus's best friend. They don't hit it off at first but he eventually warms up to her. But getting close to Gretchen can be dangerous as Gretchen has secrets that she has buried and forgotten about. But they are starting to come back to her just in time as someone from her past wants her dead. Kyros was not happy when Xanthus asked him to be one of the Warriors to come on land to help guard and protect his wife Sara. Kyros hates humans after they killed his sister. But he owes Xanthus so he goes. He is at first suspicious of Sara and sets out to save his friend until he realizes the error of his ways. He however wants nothing to do with the beautiful Gretchen. He should not feel anything but hatred towards her. But he doesn't feel that way at all and when he realizes that not all humans are bad and that he could never hate Gretchen he warms towards her. But someone wants to use him to hurt her and he can't let that happen. When he finds out her secret he knows that he won't let her go. My Opinion: This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites. As with the first book in this series I was hard pressed to put this book down. If it wasn't for real life intruding on my reading time I would not have put it down at all until I was finished. It captures and keeps your attention from beginning to end. Greatly written and a wonderful addition to this series. I am definitely looking forward to the possibility of another book in this series. With all the other Dagonian Warrior's introduced in this book there is definitely more for the author to work with. I definitely recommend reading. Reading book one first is not necessary but it is recommended. ' Read and Reviewed by LSK Sweetheart Reviews ' I am a huge fan of mermaid books. When Rising came out I jumped at the chance to read it and loved it!We first meet Gretchen in Rising. She is the best friend of Sara. For some reason she always felt drawn to her but could never place why.Xanthus and Triton feel that Sara needs extra protection. Dragonians are supposed to not like mermaids, but Xanthus feel in love with Sara. For extra protection, he asks his friend Kyros to come to their home and help with the guard duty.Gretchen is back in Hawaii, missing Sara but trying to become a lawyer to help children. Do to an incident that happened with a child that was turned back over to her biological father and her boyfriend, Gretchen decides to go to Sara so that she can spend some time with her best friend.Gretchen has a past that even Sara is not aware of. Holly Kelly surprised me as a reader with the way the story went. I loved how Gretchen and Kyros are drawn to each other, but unaware why they are. Together Gretchen and Kyros battle the vile mermaid Aella that knows many secrets.Descending is a great second book to the Rising series. I hope more are coming because I would love to see more of Xanthus and Sara and Gretchen and Kyros. This is a must summer read!
