Desperately Seeking Suzanna (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.I thoroughly enjoyed this romance novel. Sue is a woman who is constantly berated by her mother. Everything she does seems to be wrong in her mothers eyes. Sue seems to agree with her mother and condemns herself to a life of solitude, unwed and alone. That is until she meets Holden. He is everything she wants and doesn't want all at the same time. In the end she becomes a strong willed woman who learns to live for herself. This book takes place during the same time frame as Must Love Dukes which threw me off a bit as I had recently read MLD. Sue/Suzanna is a free spirit, artist who must get married or be hoisted off on a distant relative. Her mother, who is so easy to hate, ignores her for her younger sister and wants Holden for Evie. I wish there would have been a scene where Sue's mother realizes she landed Holden rather than her favored daughter. Holden's secrets provided a bit of suspense, but was quickly resolved. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
