Die Insel Der Besonderen Kinder (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

In the story MIss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, 16 year old Jacob learns about his grandfathers past. At first he's very unsure about it actually being true, but after his grandfathers death caused by a "make-believe creature" he integrates into it more. He then meets a girl named Emma who travels back in time with Jacob to the 1940''s to meet Miss peregrine herself. I decided to read this book when one of my friends recommened me to read it for this project. Overall i really enjoyed this book, but it seemed to drag on a little. I'd recommend this book to anyone around my age who likes horror stories or dark fantasy. What do You think about Die Insel Der Besonderen Kinder (2011)?

I really enjoyed this book: the pictures complimented the writing and the writing was based around the pictures, as I found out after finishing the book. The book started out by setting up the rest of the story, however after a few pages I really started to get into it. I wanted to know about the peculiar children, and what was going to happen later in the book (which is something you should want in a story). There were many tense moments and also many funny ones. All in all, 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' was a book I really liked reading!

I see a lot of reviews giving the book crappy two stars because they were deceived by the cover. Let me tell you, this book reaffirms the old adage: Never judge a book by its cover. Sure, the first few chapters (death of Grandpa Portman) felt chilly, but I think it's a great build-up for the next chapters. It's definitely a page-turner, so much so that I found myself reading for 8 hours straight. Every page reminded me of a show and tell storytelling hour with my Lolo. I'd recommend this to all my friends who love photography as much as they love reading.

Ending is a little weak, but sets up the next book in the series.

Thinking between 4 or 5 stars.. Maybe 4.5
