Die Kannibalen Von Candyland (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
I can read a lot of this strange shit that bizarro dishes out, but children mutilation I believe is my limit. When it becomes the main focus. This tale by founder of bizarro "My favorite genre" Mr. Carlton Mellrick. Takes us over to Candyland of the cannibals. Not a roll of the dice for the youngsters or sugar coated like the body parts these creatures walk around with but bizarre and disturbing at some points.Suggestive reading for a person who may want to lay off the sweets for awhile or if you want some death with your sweet. Franklin lives an underwhelming life, married to a maneater AND her mother, who have sex with whomever they wish. They also smoke meth and curse Franklin's existence. Luckily, Franklin's extracurricular activities involve hunting candy people, who are a bit of an urban legend like aliens and ghosts are to us in the real world. When Franklin is taken captive by the same candy person who he watched slaughter his brother and sister, his life actually gets somewhat better as she keeps him safe from other candy people who try to eat him.It almost feels like Carlton Mellick wrote a veiled allegory on gender politics, but to read the foreword, he swears he just wanted to take the concept of the Candyland board game and corrupt it in that sleazy, b-movie format we've come to expect from him. I think he succeeded.
