I think this book is very pleasant, but I didn't feel strongly that it was great or anything.I can't even say how long ago I bought this book on my kindle, though I can definitely say I did it when I was stocking up on free books ('cause I'm cheap like that). I finally got around to reading this one, and I was very happy to find out that even though I had inadvertently purchased the second book in a series, I could still get into the story and keep up with everything that was happening. I will say that this book was good at being enjoyable despite its predictability very early on. All in all, it's a fun read, but to be totally honest I don't think I would have read it if I didn't get it for free. I have been reading this series all out of order. I read the third book first, now the second. I still haven't read the first . . . I'm breaking every rule I usually set for myself. The books stand alone really well. I knew what happens with Leigh and so it was kind of distracting whenever her parts came up.There are more points of view than I'm used to. It wasn't hard to tell people apart, but I think it may have made it a little harder to . . . "bond" with the main characters. I understand why they were there, it's just an observation. This was one of those stories that starts with a punch and the keeps up the jabs right until the very end. It was very high tension and conflict. As a reader, you could see some of it coming -- like the moments before an accident that there's no hope of stopping. It was tough. The author knows what she's writing. :o)
