* ARC provided by the author for an honest review *Aly Chase has a heart of gold. She loves her job at Pierce Homes because it gives her the opportunity to help those less fortunate. The only thing she loves more than her job is her boss, Paul. He is hot, rich, caring, the total package. She has been swooning over him since the day he hired her and although he knows they make a great professional team she never ever thinks that he will never reciprocate her feelings. He has a long time girl friend, Casey Hammond, who he seems to be very happy with even though Aly can not for the life of her figure out Paul sees in her.Aly's best friend, Ethan, has been in love with her since the day he first laid his hazel eyes on her way back in college. He is her rock and she confides in Ethan about everything. She knows that he is attracted to her but she just doesn't see him that way. They have a unyielding friendship and Ethan is not deterred in the least by Aly's infatuation with Paul. Her world is turned completely upside down when the man she has loved for so long starts to show interest in her. This has been what she wanted for so long- she has dreamed about the from the very first day she met Paul Pierce but with dreams come reality and that reality is maybe she was so blinded by her consumption with Paul that she may have real feeling for Ethan after all. So who does she choose- the rich, powerful man with the chocolate hair and emerald eyes that she has pined after every single day for the last three years or her best friend? A sweet, gentle but sexy as hell man who says things like "I am here to stay, no matter what you decide. If you ultimately decide Paul is the man for you, or anyone else for that matter, I can’t say it won’t kill me, but I’ll always love you. We were friends first and we will be friends last, no matter what." Laura Dunaway did such an amazing job writing Distorted that I wanted to stand up and applaud her on numerous occasions throughout the book! I was completely taken by the characters and the internal battle that Aly faced throughout the story. She made the book such an easy read but there was still such an emotional connection that I cried with Aly, laughed with Ethan and felt success with Paul. I hung on every word and couldn't help but finish reading it in one sitting. She added in a couple twists that I did not see coming and it made me love the story even more!I read Distorted before I knew anything about Laura and was shocked when I learned this was her first book. She did absolutely amazing! She is an artist with words and I loved every single second of this book. I am so excited to follow her throughout her career, which I am sure will be filled with tons of success!! I was also super excited to read the little snippet of the Paul story she added at the end and can only hold out hope for a sequel to Distorted! Amazing Job, Laura!! 3.75 stars. Aly has been in love with her boss, Paul, since she started working for him but has never noticed her. Then one day, her boss finally sees her as something special. However, the dilemma is that he is still in a relationship with his bitchy girlfriend, Casey. That pushes Aly into the arms of her best friend, Ethan, who has been in love with her for years. She starts to fall for both men but cannot seem to choose who her heart belongs to. I was all for Aly being with Paul until he committed the ultimate betrayal that completely changed my perspective of him. I get that he was torn but still, that was no excuse. He completely shattered Aly and I felt awful for it. However, Aly still loved him and was torn with what she wanted. When she finally did choose who she wanted to be with, it seemed to come out of nowhere! It was like the author was favoring one character but just switched and that had cause me to disconnect with the story a bit. By the end though, I was happy with her choice. It seemed like everything worked out for almost everyone. However...I did not realize this book was going to be a series. I want to read about what happened to the man Aly did not choose. Hopefully it comes out sooner then later. :)
What do You think about Distorted (2013)?
I liked the book but did not like how much she cried, that was so annoying
