Ditching The Dream (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

Omg I fell in love with this book. Its fast paced and you cant put it down. This story is so well written you feel like you have lived Elizabeth's life. A MUST READ!!!Elizabeth is a 40 something wife and mother of 3. She went from her parents, to college, then to marriage. She had 2 sexual partners, her husband and a drunken night in high school that she doesnt really remember. She does the neighborhood book club, charities, and housewife things. But now that the kids are all in college, she starts wondering about her life. She writes her husband a letter and takes off to New York City to find herself. She falls into a job at a steakhouse. She finds an apartment. Things seem to be looking up. But when 2 men set their sights on her, she finds out more then then she expected about herself. Ditching the dream. Isabelle PetersonSwankystoriesbookblog. Review by Kim Howlett I've never read any of Isabelle Peterson's books before, so when I was asked to read it, I was happy to, firstly because I I love finding new authors and seeing what I've been missing, also because I loved the cover of the book. It was so pretty and drew me straight in. It's very nice looking at hot half naked men in book covers, it defiantly draws us women in, but it's nice to see something out the box if naked men and see a cover very simple but stunning. In a book shop, this would be the cover that would draw me in. I didn't no what to expect going in to this book, having never read anything by the author before, but I have to say Isabelle wrote a great story, with a great plot that kept me interested from the start to finish. Elizabeth isn't happy in her marriage, do she decides to up and leave her "perfect" life and move to New York. She's never had to stand in her own two feet, she went from her parents house, to her husbands, Gregs house, and never learnt to stand on her own 2feet. She leaves her husband to try and start a new life for herself and yo find out who she is without a man around. What she didn't expect was to leave her husband and run straight in to 2 different men. Jack Stevens is a rich older man. He is unbelievable good looking, very successful and is in control of everything that happens around him and his life. There instantly attracted to each other, but Elizabeth cant work out why he seems so familiar to her. Kevin is a middle school teacher who is only in his 20,s. Kevin is a absolute sweet heart, full of tattoos, country boy. The chemistry between him and Elizabeth us off the charts, even though there is a big age gap between the two of them. Then there's Elizabeth's husband, Greg. "You don't realise what you gave until it's gone" is very true. He does love her to bits, but took her completely for granted. Now she's gone, he sees the error of his ways and wants her back. Who will Elizabeth choose????I liked all the characters in the book. They were all different and likely in their own unique way.I love how the author wrote a book then you couldn't just imagine the situation, but could completely understand and jump in the book and live the situation with all the characters. At one time or another most people wonder if there life is right? Would there life be better if they moved on, etc? Isabelle made you re think your life you hour own possibilities. I loved thus about the book and the authors writing ability. The plot was captivating. You had 3 men fighting for 1 women who didn't exactly no what she wanted. Following her through the book was interesting and I enjoyed it. The story kept my interest from start to finish and I didn't find it boring at all. The suspense of not knowing what was going to happen kept me intrigued all the way through. Great book. I'll defiantly read more from this author in the future.
