Evie is a charismatic character, who’s not really the relationship type. She goes from wedding to wedding and on the first wedding she finally meets THE man.Well, it’s not that easy though. There are a lot of misunderstandings, drama and funny moments in between.I really enjoyed reading this novel, although I have to say compared to the other Jane Costello books I’ve read, I was a little disappointed.The story seemed interesting, but it took me quiet a while to get into it.There was a moment when the story finally caught me and it got more lively. The characters became more realistic and I couldn’t put the book down anymore, because I wanted to find out more and more.Jack was a pleasure to read about. A lovely main male character.There was a lot of drama going on next to the main story and for me it was a bit much, although the ideas for themselves were great.The ending was really sweet and full of true love.Jane’s writing was gripping and full of LOL moments and I really liked the story in the end, although it took me a while to get there.A funny story, with lots of ups and downs, plenty of romance and weddings!!!!Rating: 3.5 La damigella d’onore fa parte del genere Chick Lit (letteratura per pollastrelle) ed è rivolto ad un pubblico femminile dai venticinque anni in su, single, che crede ancora nell’amore e spera nel lieto fine. La protagonista Evie ha ventisette anni e si trova a dover affrontare l’ardua prova di partecipare come damigella a ben quattro matrimoni, di cui uno della propria madre. Potrà sopravvivere? Tra un ricevimento e l’altro, le prove degli abiti, un addio al nubilato con sorpresa fosforescente e ex-fidanzati fissati con la gomma riuscirà ad accompagnare tutte le spose all’altare ed a realizzare anche lei il sogno della sua vita: innamorarsi. Ma questa non è solo la storia di Evie ma anche quella delle sue amiche. Grace che conduce finalmente all’altare l’uomo della sua vita dopo sette anni di fidanzamento, una convivenza e due figlie. Purtroppo è dopo il fatidico si che per lei iniziano i guai e i problemi si celano più vicino di quanto avrebbe mai immaginato. Georgia, multimiliardaria arricchita, sposa finalmente l’uomo dei suoi sogni con un matrimonio da favola su un’isola incantata. Valentina che quando decide di sposarsi si rende conto che le manca solo una cosa, l’uomo giusto, cioè quello con la carta di credito illimitata. Ed infine Charlotte che scoprirà sulla propria pelle che l’autostima non si guadagna a colpi di dietra, make-up e ginnastica, ancor meno deludendo le persone che ti vogliono bene nonostante tutto. Quindi al di là del tono volutamente leggero e dello stile scorrevole, che ben si confà al genere a cui appartiene, i temi trattati ricordano che non basta conquistare il principe azzurro ed avere un matrimonio da favola per essere felici ma bisogna innanzitutto imparare ad amare ed accettare se stesse, solo così si potrà sperare di avere un “per sempre felici e contenti”. Ho letto questo libro piuttosto velocemente, pensando di trovare una lettura piacevole, in realtà mi sono scontrata con una lettura divertente, mi ha infatti strappato più di una risata (esilarante l’incontro all’addio al nubilato) ma mi ha anche lasciato qualche spunto per riflettere. Consigliato a chi spera e crede ancora nel vero amore.
