Call me crazy, but I think this is one of the cutest and most heartwarming books I've ever read! I loved it so much, I fell in love with all the characters. This books has sad moments, romantic moments and hilarious parts! If you like animals and romance novels as much as I do, this surely is the book for you. It is a fast read, what I liked the most is that I learnt some stuff about the daily life of a veterinarian. I highly recommend Dogs Aren't Men and I'm looking forward for more books from Dr. Tiner, I guess I'll buy her other books! A lovely romance, but what really made it special were the grainy, realistic scenes of veterinary life and the completely believable dogs. These gave the story depth and texture and brought it to life. The author is a vet herself and has drawn on her real-life experience to flesh out her narrative, giving us a really three-dimensional book, head and shoulders above the typical offerings in the romance genre. Add a thoroughly likable heroine and the result is a winning combination. No pornography either; it's a nice clean read suitable for all ages. I learn with pleasure from the material at the back of the book that this author has written several children's books about dogs; I'll certainly be seeking these out as well.
