I'm not sure how I missed this book but it's a keeper! I have read many stories about dogs that have helped soldiers but there were stories in Dogs on Duty that were new to me. I did not know there are Seal dogs! Some of the stories will move you to tears but this is a great book to share with children in a read-aloud format. The photographs are amazing, showing dogs in all forms of service and wearing military gear. The sources share that the Air Force approved of this book and the author was able to visit Lackland Air Force Base to see firsthand how the dogs are raised and trained. 2015 IL Bluestem nominee2015 IL Caudil nomineeDogs are so much more than man's best friend.
