This was a nice read with a simple language nothing complicated. The story revolves around a family, about a woman who is attracted towards the riches and materialistic things. For which she wants her children to settle abroad so they can earn in dollars...It then goes on to show the ways she treats her dollar earning daughter in law vs her other simpleton daughter in laws and how they treat her back in return...the experiences she has on visiting America and the realizations after that.a good nice read, however i felt it would have been better if her US experience was kept short and something was added at the end to show how her attitude changes towards Vinuta and they again start living happily - instead of just showing her feeling sorry for her past behavior. Sudha Murty, one of my favorite writer, not one of, but the most favorite you can say.Her lucid and narrative way of writing fascinated me from the very beginning. I almost savored all her knitting and with a great satisfaction i can preclude that she can be truly a writer of all time and all generations, everyone can definitely appreciate and enjoy her writings. Dollar Bahu, is a fiction based on a simple and narrative story of a girl Vinuta, who is very honest in her approach, principled and modest. The story moves around her and her family, from where she is expecting some love and care for the sake of her selfless duty and regards.
