"Dolls Behaving Badly" was not what I anticipated it on being. It was so much better. There's an authenticity in the main character, Carla, that hooked me and I couldn't help but get caught up in her story. I want to be able to say that this book extends beyond the "chick lit" category, and perhaps it does, however, no man in my life would find as much enjoyment or satisfaction from reading this book as I did. It's not a highly cerebral read, but I still don't want to give away the plot, even if it is slightly predictable. This is one of those rare books that leaves the reader wanting more at the conclusion. The ends were all neatly tied together, but I didn't want to put the book down. I wanted more of the story. A quick, solid read, worthy of passing along to your BFF. Because it was inexpensive and an e-book, I did not have high expectations for this. So it's even more of a pleasure to recommend it to anyone who reads this review. The setting is not something familiar to many, I'd guess, and the characters are the sorts of folks who probably do not live next door. The message is appealing. And, for those who like to stay seated when the credits are rolling at the movies, stay to the end here and read the interview with the author.

A charming story about women, love, and life. Great characters. I really enjoyed it.

What an odd book. Likable characters save this one.
