He placed his drink order. “Scotch, please – straight.” He let his eyes roam over the room. The club was fairly large. It had a separate area for drinking and dining. The dance floor was currently filled with gyrating bodies. He recognized many of the patrons. Some were his friends and former neighbors, but it was the beauty from the parking lot that attracted his attention. She stood with a group of men and women, most of whom appeared to be in their twenties. She looked straight at him. She had the same wide-eyed look a deer might give to a hunter when facing the barrel of his gun. He grinned and watched, as she tried to disappear for the second time. He found her shyness refreshing, especially given the sort of woman he normally attracted. In her haste to hide from him, she caught her foot on the leg of a chair. She tried to maintain her balance, but stumbled into one of the two bikers whose bikes had been in the lot when she’d arrived.
