Eggsecutive Orders by Julie Hyzy has Ollie and her crew preparing for the annual Easter Egg Roll on the White House lawn and a visit from Ollie's mom and Nana. But when someone is killed, during one of the dinners, everything comes to a screeching halt. The entire cooking staff, including two tv cooking stars are under the microscope for this murder. This time Tom asks Ollie to stay out of it, and try as she might, she just can't. To me, this book was a little bit more low key than the others, but was still very good. I couldn't put it down until the very end and then I felt kind of sad. Why? Well, you'll have to read the book. I will say though that with her family and friendly neighbors behind her, Ollie will weather the storm and come out on the other side. This is certainly a series that I enjoy and am looking forward to reading the next one Buffalo West Wing. This continues to be a great series, with a variety of great characters and Continuing Developments. Poor Ollie really tries not to get involved this time (the chief of security is really unhappy about, apparently, a non-professional showing them up all the time), and her relationship with Tom the Secret Service agent suffers. The basic crime this time is poison - and the length of time it takes to find out exactly what it was causes problems for Ollie and her crew, who get shut out of the kitchen for the duration. And with the annual Easter Egg Roll coming up! I like the way they take their job so seriously, and work to make sure the egg roll can go forward, without even being asked. Of course, if they weren't dedicated, they wouldn't have these jobs, but still.Hyzy continues to make the various developments in the story credible, and it's nice that in the end her persistence is vindicated ... though some of the effects of that persistence are unhappy-making for her. (Won't spoil it for you.) Hopefully, next time I hit the library I'll be able to pick up the next 3 in this series!
What do You think about Eggsecutive Orders (2010)?
light, fun read; part of a series about the Executive Chef of the White House who also solves crimes

Best of the three I've read so far. It started with a bang and never let up. A fun read.

Even though the plots are outlandish, I still really enjoy these books.
