This book is a delightful bit of Kleypas summer-reading magic. The setting is ideal (an island off the coast of the State of Washington), and there are so many references to the outdoors that I wanted to ride my bike to the nearest beach, with a bottle of wine in tow, to finish the book.Typical of Kleypas, there is a strong central romantic relationship in the book, with wonderful secondary characters. I found the relationship between the hero, Sam, and the heroine, Lucy, to be a slow burn, which I tend to like. Sam and Lucy were written as solid characters who the reader will like despite the issues that threaten to keep them apart. I have to admit that after reading the blurb on the back flap, I was poised to dislike Sam, but he totally redeemed himself with his candid approach to Lucy.Kleypas is my go-to romance author because she knows how to tell a great story that always hits the right emotional chord. In her books, love always conquers all. Lisa's one of my favorite authors. This one holds a bit of fantasy magic. I listened to this one via audiobook (happy for a talented reader that didn't annoy me like some audios do). Enjoyed the banter between girlfriends and witty chats between hero and heroine. Not as fast-paced and adventurous as I like to read, but an enjoyable story while driving to and fro in my Prius between work and daily errands.
What do You think about El Camino Del Sol (2012)?
Didn't care too much for the magic aspect of the story but I loved everything else.
