I looked the same, but so very different. I probably looked at my teeth a hundred times, touching the sharp tips of my fangs. My face looked paler, my hair darker and shinier. My eyes were still a little red and puffy from my crying, and because my skin looked so pale, they really stood out. I had thought about what happened, running it through my mind over and over again, trying to put the pieces together. None of this made sense, and I half expected to wake up, lying in my bed at Marie’s house, realizing this was all a bad dream. It wasn’t though, and even though a part of me wanted things to go back to normal, I knew it wouldn’t happen, that I would have to accept this new life. I ran my fingers through my hair, under my eyes, and back again to my teeth. I heard a knock at the door and looked at myself once more in the mirror before getting up to answer it. Even though I knew Cadeon was going to come by, it was still a shock to see him standing on the other side of the door when I opened it.
