Maryann Jordan’s “Emma’s Home” is a sweet and steamy read. Emma and Jake are a cute couple. Their backstories are very detailed and the storyline is great. The pacing of the story is just right. The lovemaking scenes are supah sexy sex sex. I just love that Jake is so possessive! Also, this book is just really well edited and well done for a first novel attempt by an author. Bravo Ms. Jordan! All the best in your future novels! I had the privilege of reading this book and its first draft and all its glory. I had nothing bad to say because it is an awesome book. With the improvements that were added and things that were changed this book only become so much better. Emma is such a great character! She is so optimistic and always has a bright outlook on life. It is so refreshing to see such a character. Jake is dreamy. I refer to him as a manly man because he is such a protector. He is most definitely a great character because he is so sweet, funny, charming, and a hunk. :) Truth be told the beginning of the story threw me off. Emma and Laurie had such a tragic back story, but one that only added so much depth to these characters. Emma was so young when her mother and older sister passed away. Her older sister had a daughter, Laurie, and they were both so young. Emma took the responsibility of her niece with as much courage and bravery as any teenager could if not more. She grew up fast because she had to take care of Laurie, but it became more of a growing for both of them. They became each others anchors and best friend. When Laurie moves away for a job they miss each other and work on trying to visit each other but it became harder. Laurie asks Emma to move closer to her and eventually she wears her down. When Laurie sets up Luke with Emma he is skeptical. He meets up with them and another woman tags along. The atmosphere became awkward, but Emma being a lighthearted person didn't mind it and put everyone at ease. Jake was floored and couldn't help but feel bad about what he did and attracted to Emma. They get to know each other better. Emma makes the decision to permanently find a home near Laurie and finds a job as a counselor in the local high school. There are some mysterious crimes occurring and Emma thinks some of the kids she counsels are a part of it. There is a twist relating to the crimes that I did not expect but enjoyed. This book made me shed tears, laugh, sigh, scared, and a whole lot more. I enjoyed it so much and I am a definite fan after reading this. If you are looking for a sweet romance with some mystery this is a great book to pick up. So get to one-clicking!
