She normally didn’t care, but just lately she had become very concerned when she came to the queen’s realm. This one had spoken to her before. She could feel his fear of her, but it didn’t stop him from being polite. “No thanks. I just want to leave this place.” She turned to go and there stood an entire company of men. “My lady. The queen asks that you please join her in the salon if it is convenient for you. She said that she only wishes a word with you.” The man looked nervous, and Bailey remembered him from last week. He had been one of the guards holding an arrow at her. Bailey also noticed that none of them were touching their weapons. She made sure she didn’t make any sudden moves toward them when she took a step in their direction. “All right. But tell her that I’d rather be out of doors, please. I stink and I don’t want to smell up her pretty room.” Bailey hadn’t had a proper bath for nine days. She’d swam in the lake near the mountains in this realm, the water cool and clear, but as there was no soap or shampoo, she was feeling a little dicey.
