Enticed (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

This book had me constantly smiling. The love and commitment the heroine showed for her student was heartwarming. Rachel was hired by Drew to be his son, Jonathan's teacher. Jonathan had been acting out and was so out of control, Rachel was his last shot before military school. Rachel sets boundaries for Jonathan and challenges him at every turn, all while trying to ignore her attraction to his rich, powerful father. Rachel keeps it professional as best she can, but eventually Drew snags her in his trap. Although there was a slow buildup to Drew and Rachel's relationship, I found that relationship building time to be real and not forced and it was a nice change from the usual boy meets girl, instant sexual attraction, fall into bed scenario. Rachel made responsible choices and she knew crossing the line could interfere with their friendship, as well as Jonathan's progress. Rachel wasn't at all Drew's "type", but her kind heart and actions captured his attention and he couldn't help but fall for her. I loved the way Rachel helped both Fullerton men to open up and see the world outside of work and making money. She brought out the kid in both Jonathan and Drew and showed them how to enjoy life and take advantage of all of the wonderful things around them. Rachel and Jonathan's relationship was beautiful. She became a mother figure to him, which he desperately needed since he didn't have a close relationship with his own mother.Rachel brought their family back together and made it a cohesive unit. Rachel gained the sense of belonging and family that she thought she'd never have again but Drew's secrets and child custody issues threatened to destroy everything. I really enjoyed this book. My only issue was that Rachel's character seemed a little dumpy to me. The descriptions of the way she dressed and the fact that she was a homebody and didn't really have a social life, made me think she was a lot older than she was. When it was revealed that she was only 28, my jaw dropped. Hopefully she brings out her diva side in the next installment. I read all three Fullerton books back to back. I am pretty sure this author made me feel the entire gamut of raw emotions during the span of these three books. This series broke my heart over and over again, leaving me sobbing ugly, ugly tears. In the end I was left with the feelings of hope and love. This series was truly about the building of a family one love and heartbreak at a time. These are the first books I have read by this author and it will certainly not be the last. The author leaves me with the thought that in life sometimes its better not knowing the end result because it might just make you miss out on all that beautiful messiness that makes it so worth it when you finally get there.
