Enticing A Dangerous Mate (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
A fun series. Very unique characters and stories. The author takes great advantage of the fact that these are fiction and comes up with some entertaining theories on shifters and mating.I've read all 12 that are currently out and they've gone through all kinds of things including amnesia, shadows, knots to dark/light compounds and even male pregnancy with all kinds of hot, sexy men. So much going on and I only touched on the tip of the topics - all mixed in with hot sex - what's not to enjoy!! Even though I knew there were shifters in the book, I found myself a bit confused (in a where will the plot reveal itself sort of way). Seems this book had a slower reveal. Was Marshal a shifter, I wondered in the beginning. After all, he was talking about mates and claiming and there was knotting. But the story gave no indication of any shifter business until it was half over. I thought it was a bit weird that, though that they were clueless, they didn't wonder at the terms and actions going on with things (I mean, knotting - that would make me ask questions!). And Cassidy didn't blink at the use of "mate," which is a bit unusual a term for humans to use. I just thought it was weird, lol. Until Marshal let the "mate" phrase slip a few times near the middle of the book there really was no indication it was a shifter story, hence my confusion/wondering about things. I guess a lot of it would be instinctual -- their actions, but still. We discover Elliot is a shifter -- a coyote (and that's not a spoiler given the title and series!). He was confused about things, but hey he had amnesia. Marshal didn't see phased, which was sort of weird. Kingsley was an asshole, but that's a given. He is the villain. Kingsley being a major asshole triggered Marshal to shift into a coyote. Again, it was pretty weird how blasé people were about it. It was basically: So you change into a coyote? Shug, I guess I do. 0.o And then Jakes was all, "Someday my mate will come." Which seems weird. Does he know he's a coyote? Doesn't he think it's weird to think of mates and shifting into animals? This isn't what most people would be saying or behaving like given the situation! Lol. Okay and the part about Elliot being the son of the president of the United States - WTH? Talk about unexpected! But this book left a lot of questions unanswered. I hope the other books shed some light on the rules for shifters in the book-verse. Otherwise things will be pretty vague...I want answers damn it!
