Brad ensured the extra horses were packed and ready, and he hoped she had the wits enough to follow the path they’d been taking the cattle on for two days. He rode his horse hard, focusing on moving the herd. Dust obscured his vision as he galloped from one end of the perimeter to the other, occasionally passing Dawson or Chase on horseback. His dog was an asset, appearing in his peripheral vision from time to time, doing his job tirelessly. By the time they took a lunch break, he could see the three horses nearing from the distance. He flipped open his saddlebag and took a long, much-needed drink of water.
