Exile Of Sara Stevenson: A Historical Novel (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I was immediately enthralled with this book after I read the ending of the first chapter. I liked the development of the relationship between Sara and the light keeper. I felt sorry for Sara losing her one true love, but glad that she was able to not only rescue the light keeper but find peace and love in her own life. I enjoyed the light house history. Thought the characters were developed well and the story had some good humor. Enjoyed the book and look forward to reading another from this author. Not really into ghost stories and sorta confused with the time traveling of Sara and Alexander's letters, but liked the ending for Alexander as well. Taking place in 1814 – 1816, Sara Stevenson is in love with the wrong man from her parents’ perspective. When she refuses more suitable offers of marriage, she is banished to a lighthouse her father designed on the remote Cape Wrath. Sara learns to accept her exile, befriends a nearby family and becomes intrigued with the light-keeper. Sara never stops believing that her beloved Thomas will find her until she receives a mysterious package from an antiquarian in Oxford. Through correspondence with him, she learns Thomas’s fate and why he did not meet her on the day they planned to elope.
