This book was a bunch of short stories. I have never heard or seen any of the Vinyl Cafe series so I'm not familiar with the storyline at all, however I did enjoy the gist of the stories. I didn't read all of the stories completely (yes, I admit, I skimmed the book), however I did enjoy what I did read. I am not a huge fan of short stories and these are the type that I feel are better told with a group of friends and not read by yourself, hence the low rating and the fact that I skimmed the stories. My husband introduced me to Stuart McLean on CBC a few years ago. I've always been a little worried about buying the books because I thought that his stories would lose something without him telling them. They don't.He tells stories of an ordinary family doing mostly ordinary things. He writes like he talks and too often those wry punchlines make me laugh out loud. I look forward to reading more of his books, and I'm kind of sad I wandered into them so late in the series.
This was my first Vinyl Cafe book...I'm hooked! Many of these stories had me in stitches!
