Since there was nothing they could do until tomorrow, they decided to have a nice dinner on the patio of their room. Anthony didn’t want them in separate rooms, not even adjoining and Evie had to admit, she was happy they would be sharing a bed. Her hopes were dashed when he fell asleep quickly. Lying there staring at the ceiling, she wondered how one moment he could be so protective and loving and the next turn it off. She supposed it had to do with all of the loss he’s suffered and being locked up for all those years. Turning over, she memorized his face, softened in sleep, the lines between his eyebrows gone. She knew she was falling for him and besides not being what she wanted in this stage of her life, it would affect Lexi. They would see each other all the time, that constant reminder. All Evie could hope for was time healing their wounds and getting Jeremy locked up so they wouldn’t have to worry about that any more. Tentatively, she reached out and ran a finger down the side of his face.
