After the phone call with his mother-in-law, Pam had found him tense and trembling in bed, grinding his teeth in frustration. She soothed him for a few moments with her gentle voice then called the doctor. Evan got a stern talking to about relaxing and giving his body a chance to heal, followed by a shot in the arm. He spent the rest of the morning drifting in and out, barely able to acknowledge his visitors. Vic dropped in for a few with Moses and Kalee. He couldn't remember a word of the conversation. Serena came by wondering if he was up to seeing Helena but midway through the visit he'd drifted off and when he woke up, Matt was sitting in the pleather chair, reading the Daily News. Then he fell asleep again. Now it was almost dinnertime. He wasn't expecting any visitors for a few hours, with Matt running home to shower and his kids not expected for at least two hours. So that meant he had entirely too much time to worry. He played the conversation with Josie over and over in his head, until he could feel his blood churning.
