Fallen: The Demontouched Saga (Book 2) - Plot & Excerpts
Azrael inspects the amulet. “Positive.” I admit that I was more interested in how his eyes were boiling his blood than I was in watching for the spirit to leave the body, but the reaction is usually quick. If Suit was hiding a demon, it managed to evacuate before Suit died. It isn’t unheard of if the demon had a moment to do it, but that was a bang-bang play. There is no way he got out that fast. But without seeing the spirit leave, I have to wonder. Azrael hands the necklace back. “He did have the amulet, as I suspected. I searched the cathedral at least three times before realizing that it was gone.” I smile. “You knew he had it the whole time.” “Suspected. It won’t get rid of your problem, but it should help you control your abilities more.” “As long as it gets rid of the outbreaks, I’ll be happy.” “It should.” “So what’s next for you?” “I have a lead on Balthazel up in upstate Minnesota, near the Canadian border.” Balthazel is one of the nasty ones.
