Family Pictures. By Jane Green (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Surprisingly good. The secret was obvious from the beginning and I didn't expect to like this book much. But it was heartfelt and lovely, with a very satisfying ending. I liked it more than I thought I would. The only criticism is that the story is about two American families but so clearly written by a Brit. There are expressions and words an American would never use, which I found a bit distracting. I was really looking forward to reading this book because of the premise behind the story. However, I was disappointed with the jump-all-over-the-place plot, and the time spent on topics not directly related to the main storyline (thank you, teenage girls, for the blow job lesson!). I would have liked to know more about Mark and the force behind what led him to lead 2 lives, 2 families. He disappeared! Even after he served jailtime, his presence only received a one-line follow-up. The friendships felt forced and there were a lot of loose ends by the end.

Good story...I liked how the chapters alternated between the different characters.

Quick and easy read. The ending was so saccharine though that my teeth hurt.
