The main case is the Powell family from Utah which I remember reading about in the press. It is a sad story, but it is well-laided out and researched. Other cases include two unsolved suspicious deaths in California, a serial arsonist working out of a hotel, a man with a preference for blondes, a kindly elderly couple, a young girl found dead outside her home, and more. Most are solved, others not. All in all, worth a read. This was a short story which Ann Rule wrote many years ago, about co-eds who were being attacked in their dorm at college in Corvallis, OR. Two of the girls got away but since it was dark and the person sneaked up behind them, they just got a very vague description. After a couple of other false leads, (this happened in 1972 so there was no DNA technology yet) a young man of 19 turned told the police he was attacked. This even happened at the college in Corvallis, OR. The third female victim was not as fortunate as the others. She was fatally stabbed even after stricter security measures were put into place. A very sad story; the attacker turned out to be mentally ill, which made it even more sad. This was about 10 pages long with portions of Ann Rules' next book and a couple of excerpts from two of her daughter Leslie's books.
What do You think about Fatal Friends, Deadly Neighbors: Ann Rule's Crime Files Volume 16 (2012)?
Ann Rule books are an embarrassing guilty habit that I really wouldn't recommend.
