Quick read! Jace & Deni's chapter of the Shifters-verse is a great example of the things I love about this series. We see their connection, we learn more about them individually and as a couple. The overall story arc about the Collars is advanced, but doesn't feel like it's taking anything away from the two main characters. And I LOVE that Tiger gets some cameos, cuz let's face it - he's my favorite. : ) I kind of have a problem with major plot elements being revealed in novellas. Because sometimes I forget about them, only read the novels, and get super confused, only to later find out that I couldn't have known and did not in fact miss something relevant in the previous novel-releases. In other words, something in my opinion big happened in Feral Heat and if you are a fan of the Shifters Unbound series you should definitely read this. If you aren't already a reader, this is actually a pretty good example of Ashley's stories, though the full-length novels are more complex. (This one was fleshed out, but more so if you're already familiar with the worldbuilding. If you're not, it might either be confusing or a tad too shallow, because you'll miss the significance of certain elements.)I wasn't too enthused to find out Jace had gotten a novella instead of a novel, especially because it hadn't been hinted at in previous releases (as with Graham/Misty) but I actually really liked it. Too bad Ashley couldn't write more, though. I'd have liked to read more about ferals. Instead I got Broderick/human hints. Can't say I'm excited about him, since he's a douche, but we'll see. ;)Since it was an average read, I'll go with 2.5-3 stars again.
