3.5 I would have given the book 4 but I didn't like the ending very much. I felt like the ending was too abrupt very much like one of those romance novels that ends with a kiss. At least those get an epilogue usually, but because this is a series we don't even get that. I did enjoy the book but after the cliffhanger in the previous book, I don't know if the author is trying too hard to be suspenseful. Marcus is also a confusing character. He comes out as a very rigid person but then is very indecisive. I was disappointed with the short part of Kathleen's mom though. I felt like she was brought in the middle and wasn't used very much. She wasn't there to help with the plot which was too bad since she sounds like a good character. All in all I love the cats especially Hercules and am looking forward to the next book. I wonder how many times I can say I love these books? Sofie Kelly is an awesome cozy mystery writer. Her books have the right balance of mystery, murder, romance, small town setting, lovable pets and likeable characters. Final Catcall is no exception to this.In Final Catcall, Kathleen has to deal with the arrival of her former fiance and her fizzling romance with Detective Marcus. I thought for sure were in for a love triangle but Sofie Kelly wraps this storyline up in a neat bow. It was hard not to fall in love with both Andrew and Marcus as the story progressed. Kathleen is made of stronger stuff than me because I might have caved in and let Andrew back in. As per usual, the mystery was complex enough to keep the reader interested but not so complex that I had to re-read the end several times. The only thing that bothered me was that the prologue didn't match the final chapter of book 4. Since I read them back to back, the scenes were pretty fresh in my mind. I am not sure why they were that off. All in all, a great read and I'm definitely looking forward to book 6!
