Finding Her Feet - Drama. Tragedy. Family. Life. (2000) - Plot & Excerpts
Just imagine watching your own sister fall through the ice and not being able to do anything about it, then after having endured god knows what kind of emotional roller coaster, see her re-appear the day after the incident. This is exactly what this book is about. Here, Amanda watches her sister Samantha fall through the ice and then magically appear the next day. Of course, this put a lot of stress on everyone involved, and we get an up-and-close and raw taste of some real-life drama, tragedy, and life. My opinion is that the author have successfully managed to paint a believable picture of what life can look like sometimes; it's not all sunshine and happy moments by the dinner table. If you're looking for something to strike a chord within you, this book will surely do that for you. At least it did for me. Disclaimer: I got this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. (I won this book in the giveaway so I would like to thank the author for choosing me to read this)(Spoiler alert ahead)This book was about a young girl suffering from guilt about her twin sister dying. She had difficult times but ended up being a person full of hope for her family...that's what I think anyway. She wants her family to help raise Samantha into a good person. She made bad decisions in her short life of seventeen years but after meeting John she changed into a whole new Amanda. What I read in this book shocked me, surprised me and at the end made me a little sad. Though i did not cry. There was one thing i am unsure about. I liked the fact that there were time jumps throughout the first half of the book but then didn't like it at the same time. I had also wondered if Michelle and Amanda would tell their parents about their rapes but that never happened. I would like to believe that after the book finished Michelle did tell them about hers. Amanda's parents wouldn't know about her rapes, drinking and drugs but I think that they have been through enough in their lives that they didn't really need to know. Just my thoughts on this. When Amanda first mentioned choosing names for the baby I knew that one way or another it would be named after Samantha and I wasn't wrong. Love how the baby's name was named after her twin sister. The letters were awesome. I wasn't expecting that but i loved it.This book was an interesting read. Well done on making this a good book. (:

Much darker than I thought it would be. Don't read unless you are ready for a deep and dark.
