I don't know how to rate this book. The writing is compelling, the story compelling, the characters seem not from real life, and yet as you get pulled in - it is a short read, I found the main character ( who was/is an addict), as she heads into a train wreck, like watching a accident in the making and one I needed to know the ending of, before I could go back and read it. Once I did, I no longer wanted to watch the slide. It is the parentified child in this story who is pulled between two self-absorbed narcissitic parents that I found to difficult to witness. This book takes you where life takes the person who follows nothing but their desire. It was exciting, frustrating, infuriating, funny, and heartbreaking.I appreciate a book that makes me feel emotion without smothering me in it.I have known and hated this character in real life, but still enjoyed getting to know this selfish, broken, "real" character. The end- unexpected, abruptly so even..... But perfect. Read it- it's a page-turner.
