This is my kind of book. Shifters, vamps, witches, pixies, and 'mixies' all locked up together (by the humans) in a "habitat".Lanore Vesta is smart, tough, and trying to be the first 'mixie' to get her college degree - despite being discriminated against and treated like a second class citizen by all the pure bred 'supes'. She has a really big heart and just as big sense of justice. I look forward to reading the next book about Lanore, Zulu, Meshack, Ben, Nona, and The Palero. I received a free copy for review. Plot: 3 stars Characters: 3 stars Style: 3 1/2 stars Pace: 4 stars (Note: I snagged this one for free from Bookrooster, in exchange for an honest review. This didn't influence my opinion.)There's a lot of things to like about this book- Interesting world building, potential for a series, a heroine you want to see win. Alas, it fell flat for me. One of my largest gripes is stories where you can tell so much is being held in reserve for later books that nothing really develops in each book. I kept waiting for a twist, for something to escalate in a way that surprised me, but all it made me do was sigh and reach for the next book on my virtual pile. There's a lot of potential here, this story just never reached it, and I wasn't into it enough to want to read more of the series to find out if they improve. Still, if what you want is a typical mild paranormal romance that doesn't take any chances, this will fit the bill.
What do You think about Fire Baptized (2012)?
I like the book had a lot of action and wondering what would happen next.
