Well, I think this maybe in the wrong category. I had a very difficult time staying focused on this one. I really wanted to get into it but it just didn't come together for me. The main characters Bodie and Maria didn't seem to have any fire or passion. I could not connect with them at all. There wasn't really enough suspense or romance.Maria's father just passed and her sisters and her learn that they were not his biological children. That they were all sent to him by their mothers because they were in grave danger. They all set off to learn what happened to them. Maria goes back to Tulsa, Oklahoma to try and find her mother's killer. What she doesn't know is that she's going to stir up a whirlwind of events. Detective Bodie Scott is the detective that agrees to reopen the cold case with the knowledge that Maria witnessed the murder, she just can't remember what happened.I do want to know what happens to the other two sisters, so I may just continue on with the series with the hopes that it picks up. I just wish there were more emotions and dialogues and feelings. Instead what I got was a lot of scene setups. I'm pretty sure we spent 2.5 pages on eating cake.Not to mention it wasn't very believable. Bodie and Maria spent all of a few car rides together and yet they fell in love. No one falls in love and wants to marry in a matter of a few days. Towards the last hundred pages this novel did pick up a bit. Had the rest of the novel felt the same it may have worked out better.While the story was good, it just did not seem fast paced enough and the romance was not just lacking it was missing completely. It was a quick easy read I wanted to like it but I think it was lacking. Blood Stains (Sharon Sala)Murder/romance/suspenseMaria Slade finds out a shocking truth at the reading of her fathers will. Her and sisters are not related, this isn't even her father. Maria's mother was a prostitute and at age 4, she witness her death. maria suppressed these memories and is shocked when she hears this. Living on a ranch in Montana, Maria decides to pack her bags and head to Tulsa, Oklahoma to investigate her biological mothers death. Once arriving in Tulsa she meets up with detective Bodie Scoot. There they dig into her past, search for her biological father and fall for each other.Fast paced, a bit slower on the suspense part, but likable characters, and interesting enough plot to keep me reading more. I would like to read the next two books in the series.
