Flight 232: A Story Of Disaster And Survival (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
A very thoroughly researched book about an air crash in Iowa in 1989. Personally, for me it had way too much information on the creation and functioning of the engines. However. This highly detailed material could prove fascinating for someone with an engineering bent. The author leaves you with a lot to consider: who gets to survival, and what happens to them in that life changing moment, and how they survive the survival. I'm going to be seeking out his other published work. Editing! Argh! Books lately are KILLING me with the editing problems. Typos are bad enough, but actual grammatical issues and bad writing that could be easily fixed by a reasonably smart proofreader/editor are running rampant through published works from respected publishing houses. This is not a "self-publishing" issue.Okay. That said, the story of United Flight 232, which crashed at the Sioux City airport in July 1989, is extremely compelling. This nonfiction book contains enough science-y stuff to keep it from being a tearjerking sob novel, but enough emotion to keep it human.
What do You think about Flight 232: A Story Of Disaster And Survival (2014)?
Don't know why I read this on a flight to the UK...and again on the way back...transfixing.
