Chocolate, Romance, and a murder mystery make for a great story. Two strong Alpha men, both living a life of loneliness fight their attraction, knowing it can change everything. For the human it means allowing his family and friends to see him differently. For the vampire it means risking his chance to escape exile and return to his place as prince and Lord. Yet their pull towards one another is unmistakable. And the chocolate cupcakes are to die for! I loved watching the seduction of John, the back and forth as each man gave in to his feelings. Vincent's use of Italian and his way around children melts me (and John). The role of the best friend is a great tension reliever. (note, I read the 2014 edition, not the 2011 that readers complain had an unresolved ending. It's my understanding the authors rewrote the ending for the 2014 edition that I loved)This was so fun to read. The relationship between John and Vince was incrementally progressed and the sex was delicious, as was the emotional intimacy. I suspect some readers will want all the big relationship reveals in this one book but since I had book two waiting to read this one had enough relationship resolution for me.The secondary characters are wonderful too, especially both John and Vince's sisters. I love the scene where John's sister brings her three kids to Vince's cupcake shop. Vince's friend Angelo is funny and nearly stole the scenes he was in. I also love and want more of the Orbus Arcana world that exists parallel to the human world. This book had some but the sci-if nerd in me wants more.Very good book one in a series and now off to book two...
