For The Love Of A Goblin Warrior (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Husk drew me into the Shadowlands with Roan in The Goblin King and again with Dai in Kiss of a Goblin Prince. Now, she's done it again with Meryn, capturing my heart in this steamy novel. In this third installment of the Shadowlands trilogy, my sympathy went to the lost, lonely, tormented Meryn. After centuries of being trapped in the Shadowlands, existing as little more than a beast, fighting hunger and nightmarish creatures just to survive, Meryn suddenly finds himself thrust into the 21st century. As if that isn't bad enough, he has nothing other than a little gold in his pocket, the clothes on his back, and the sword in his hand. Add to that the fact that he still mourns his deceased family, the Shadowlands still haunt even his waking moments, and he is completely out of his element, and this reader fell in love at first sight (or paragraph).I even developed a girl-crush fro the heroine, Nadine. With her tragic past and deeply-hidden pain, she still finds a way to be compassionate and caring, especially towards Meryn, who doesn't even know her language. It's obvious he needs her help, yet the barrier between communication proves a difficult start to their relationship. But love always finds a way and this book is no exception. It is an emotional , heartwarming story about love, loss, tragedy and trust that is sure to tug at your heartstrings and make you laugh and cry but leave you with warm fuzzies at the end. Definitely worth the read!!! For the Love of a Goblin Warrior is the third book in the Shadowlands series by author Shona Husk. If you haven't read the previous books in this series, it should still be no problem to follow along. While I recommend you read the previous books, it is not necessary to read them first. The main characters are Meryn and Nadine. While this book was good and kept me reading straight through until the end, it wasn't a book that I would say I fell in love with. The story was a little choppy at times and it kind of threw me off while reading it. Once I recognized the pace of the book though, I started to enjoy the plot. This book had it all. It had loss, love, obstacles and redemption. I really enjoyed the characters and they actually felt right together. While this book fits into the paranormal romance genre, I loved how it incorporated the fantasy elements as well. I haven't read much about Goblin's, but I found it is a story line element that I could enjoy in future books - especially if written by this author.Again, it can be read as a stand alone novel, but reading the previous books in the series will just make the world the author created richer and better detailed in your mind. I can't wait to see what the author will come up with next!
