Foster (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

I originally drew this book for my monthly book club, but decided to go with another when I realized how difficult it is to get your hands on a copy of this. It seems the only way is to order it online (though I'm sure you can get it for an e-reader. I'm not the e-reader type). However, I was curious enough about this it to go ahead and order a copy and read it on my own. It's very short. I would almost call this a short story, rather than a novella. It's a very sweet story that definitely tugs at the heartstrings. Nothing huge happens. There's really no big climax or conflict resolution. Just a tender story that makes people like me really appreciate how lucky they are to be raised in a home where their parents have time for them and how it feels to be well loved and cared for. This book has several great lines that resonated with me. So many others have added these lines into their reviews, that I won't bother putting them in mine. Beautiful writing. It is a little hard to read the dialogue though. Unless you happen to be Irish, maybe. I struggled a bit sometimes, trying to figure out what on earth these people were saying.Anyway, wonderful story, but too short for me to form any real attachments. I guess I don't do well with short stories. I need plenty of time with my MC to form a strong enough connection to really care about them and their story.

What do You think about Foster (2010)?

This is really a short story. It is pretty much perfect, as short stories go. Rural Ireland.
