Mind. Blown. This is the first "4-Hour" book that I've read, but definitely not the last!Timothy Ferriss said that it was a book not so much about cooking, but what you learn *through* cooking. And, of course, he's right. :)I already knew how to cook before picking up this book, I'd taken a few culinary classes, and even took a few culinary school tours to see if I truly wanted to become a professional chef. I didn't.So my takeaways from the culinary parts of this book were in the joy and passion that Ferriss has for food. Quantifying the aromas and textures of food, dissecting and analyzing the components that make for an orgasmic meal and describing them in a funny, pragmatic and yes, easily digestible way for the layman to understand was awesome.And there are many, many, other parts of the book. How to survive a zombie apocalypse, how to become a world-class sportsperson, and how to become a VIP (one of the coolest sections of the book, and I can't help but wonder how annoyed restauranteurs may have gotten with Ferriss-acolytes invading their spaces....like I plan to do, I grin sheepishly).If you have *any* interest in *any* of the subject areas listed above, hie yourself over to the nearest library, read the book for yourself, and then end up buying it. Like I plan to do.Completely random side note: I *love* checking out books from the library - it's my test drive to see if I want to commit to buying the actual book. Moje první knížka od Ferrise. Za necelých deset dolarů přes 600 stran textu, kde se mimo jiné dozvíte... jak se naučit německy za tři měsíce, jak si zapamatovat posloupnost karet v balíčku, jak s minimálním úsilím zhubnout 10 kilo a jak vázat uzly. Jasně, je to trochu obchodování s deštěm, ale - alespoň pro mne - velmi zábavné obchodování s deštěm. Knihu bych si přál nacházet po kavárnách, recepcích nebo klidně i v čekárnách u zubaře.Bohužel samotná kuchařka (tedy cca dvě třetiny knihy) je nepoužitelná. U návodů, jak kamenem skolit holuba a opéci si chycenou veverku nepovažuji za pravděpodobné, že bych se k tomu v dohledné době dostal. A celé mi to přijde divně napsané, i když na vině může být i má nedostatečná slovní zásoba.
