Frank Einstein And The Antimatter Motor: Book One (2014) - Plot & Excerpts
I like Jon Scieszka a lot, but this one didn't really do it for me. It's about a kid scientist who love science. I mean LOVES it. Wants to marry it, loves it. He creates? some self-assembling, learning robots and an incredible motor that runs on antimatter, but isn't very likable himself. All the characters are stereotypes, and while the allusions to literature (Frankenstein, Sherlock, Sesame Street, to name a few) are amusing, I wonder if kids will pick up on them and appreciate them. Over all, I really did love the science and would love to see more kids books incorporating science, but just wasn't in love with the story. Good for Wimpy Kid fans. Frank Einstein is a genius and inventor. He's that kid that always wins the science fair at school, you know that kid! Or if he doesn't win, at least he has the coolest project. In the book, Frank Einstein and the Antimatter Motor by Jon Scieszka, Frank makes a couple of amazing robots who know teach themselves anything! Where the trouble comes is when Frank's arch nemesis, T. Edison, steals the robots for a sinister plot. This book is lots of fun for ages 8-12.
