I was a little bummed that none of the websites mentioned in the book actually exist. The book was a little choppy but would be easily accessible for struggling readers. Some odd text features including 4 pages of nonsensical hamster language dialogue, pages of text with SPHDZ stamped all over it, and 2 pages printed upside down could be confusing for struggling reader. ***Students found the online app that translates these page of nonsensical language to text. Reading is a family priority for us. My son loves reading, but is selective in what he'll read on his own. All the currently popular books have received lackluster reviews from this boy. Based on some of his other favorite reads, I looked for other books by Jon Scieszka, and found this book.Touching, funny, aliens, new kid in school, secret agents, the perfect story for thoughtful, quirky, funny kids. My son will be starting the second book in the series this week. My husband and I are just as excited as he is!
What do You think about SPHDZ (2010)?
4th grade Michael K has just moved to a new school and finds out his desk mates are really aliens.
