What do You think about French Silk (2000)?
French for its location in the Crescent City; Silk for the fine material comprising the majority of the suggestive garments she designs; together, the name of Claire Laurent’s thriving mail-order lingerie company, half-owned by supermodel Jasmine. It’s not the sort of book that would ordinarily pique my interest.Claire is the illegitimate child of a rogue a itinerant hustler. Her naive trusting mother descends mentally into a morass from which she doesn’t recover. Toss in the past-prime model, a grizzled unkempt determined detective, a pinch of romance, a televangelist and his family, a Congressman, an assistant district with a guilty conscience, some voodoo, and a murder. Puree for two minutes. Pour this sauce over a platter of al dente spaghetti (which represents the directions the plot seems to take). But, the result is a fine dining experience.Normally, I’m fairly adept at assessing the direction a storyline is headed, but I was deceived by the author’s ability to surprise and deceive me. A good read.

This was the very first book by Sandra Brown that I ever read. It is by far my favorite. From the beginning I was caught up in the story and with every chapter I was surprised. It's the first book of this genre that I actually had not figured out "whodunit" by the end. Although I was sure I knew who was guilty by the end of the first chapter, I changed my mind with every chapter thereafter until at the very end...I was shocked. I have read it several times and I always remember my first read and my reactions to the story. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the romance/thriller genre.

True to Sandra Brown form, this book was just about everything I look for in a book. It was entertaining, gripping, sweet, twisted and so much more. You really can't go wrong with anything Brown writes. This book was written in 1991, but I didn't find myself noticing the 22 year difference. With some books, you REALLY notice that the book is old ... the author leans too heavily on modern technology and that becomes outdated so quickly that their books also feel dated. Maybe that's one of the main reasons that I really enjoy all of Brown's books. Now ... since you can tell I'm a fan, let's talk about French Silk. I really didn't have any issues with it ... it was a really good book. And except for one or two parts, it didn't really slow down or make me lose interest. The characters were great (as are all of Sandra Brown characters in every single book) - well written, thought out, engaging ... the whole nine yards. The setting was also gorgeous ... at least I think. I've never been to New Orleans ... but the picture that Brown painted has turned it into a place that I would like to check out. Long story short, great book ... pick it up ... you won't be disappointed.http://littlemissbookmark.blogspot.com/
