Frenched (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I actually liked this book quite a bit. I needed something light to take me out of my funk after reading Stay (which I highly recommend). For this type of story I think it went as expected. I will say I wish Mia would have chilled the fuck out at around the 70% point. It was acceptable because great sex will have you thinking positive thoughts about the person giving you mind blowing orgasms. I wouldn’t go the “in love & making plans for the future” route myself, but she seemed the type. I was glad there was very little drama. The little hiccup at the end wasn’t annoying & I like how they left things. It felt like there could possibly be a HEA but it wasn’t guaranteed, both where hopeful.Unfortunately I won’t read the follow up after looking forward it looks like it’s way different than this one so I’m just going to stop while I’m ahead. If you’re looking for a light, funny, read with some steamy sex thrown in then I’d recommend this. Holy Jesus Mary Mother Joseph cheese on a cracker! This book was so frickin’ steamy I thought I was going to self combust! Talk about a damn good build up to every scene, to the romance, to the love, to the story! I was absolutely blown away.Mia plans…everything. She makes lists for her entire life. What is she going to wear for the next week? There’s a list for that. What are her opinions on a certain event? There’s a list for that. What’s her itinerary for a trip? Oh, what’s that? Right, there’s a list for that. She’s extremely organized, detailed, and not spontaneous. So it’s completely out of her plans for Tucker to call off the wedding. A week before the wedding. Her life plan? Up in smoke. It’s with some cajoling by her two best friends that she even gets out of bed a week later and takes her honeymoon. By herself. While her first day in Paris just plain sucks, we see Mia pretty quickly have to adapt to changing herself. She meets Lucas in the most oddest of places, and begins to realize that she enjoys being spontaneous, throwing a list aside here and there, and actually living in the moment.“‘You are a f*cking delight, princess. It’s like you know the dirty jokes in my head I’m too scared to make in front of you.'”Lucas is nothing like her type. He’s scruffy, lean, and not so much of a pretty boy. But, goddamn, he’s fun and witty. He takes her right out of her comfort zone pretty quickly, and seeing as he has a psych degree under his belt, he knows just what he’s doing. He wants her, but he knows she’s fresh off the heartbreak of her failed wedding, and he’ll just settle for being her friendly tour guide of the city. It’s pretty quick that they realize there’s this burning smolder between them, and holy cow, when they throw caution to the wind and decide to just feel it is one of the hottest first couplings I’ve ever read. He awakens her body, excites her, touches her like she’s never, ever felt before. They can’t get enough of each other, and it is freaking HOT. And sexy. And, did I say hot already?“‘I think I’m dead,’ I said after my body had finally stopped convulsing. ‘You’ll have to bury me at Pere Lachaise next to that president.'”Melanie is an amazing storyteller that weaves this almost too-perfect build up of both passion and romance that is so hard to find. Mia and Lucas were such a great couple–filled with surprise, angst, and beneath it all, a wonderful love that fills them both so quickly. I devoured this book in one sitting frankly because I couldn’t stop. I love when a book can take precedence over everything because it’s that good. I can’t recommend this book enough.**Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
