Full Contact (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

This is the second book in the Worth the Fight series and can be read as a stand alone novel. This is a story about a Slade an MMA fighter who is known for changing bed partners as frequently as underwear and Jessica a bartender who is trying to get her life back after almost becoming a statistic in an abusive relationship with her ‘charming’ boyfriend.Slade has been drawn to Jessica from the beginning and has taken it upon himself to protect her while she is recovering from what he feels is his fault. He convinces her to go out on a date with him and see where it takes them. One thing leads to another and they begin dating. However, Jessica is keeping something from Slade that may just cost her, her life. Great story, strong characters you can really sink your teeth into and love that can conquer the world!I would definitely recommend this story to those who have enjoyed books authored by Jennifer Armentrout or Cora Carmack. Full Contact is the second book in the Worth the Fight series. This book has the possibility of being read as a standalone (I didn't read the first book), but at the beginning you do feel like you missed something until the characters reflect back on previous events a little further in the book. This was a great book. A sexy as all-get-out MMA playboy, becomes the protective and attentive man in the life of a woman who has been in an abusive relationship. Slade has never had feelings for a woman, like he does for Jessica. Jessica just got out of an abusive relationship and is a little hesitant too jump into another relationship, although Slade is everything that she really wants. While Jess and Slade have an over the top erotic relationship, it's her abusive ex that might be the cause of them not fulfilling their happily-ever-after. There were only two things about this story that lead it to being a 4start instead of a 5star story. First was that Jess and Slade knew each other and were practically in love from the beginning of the book. While this could have been caused by not reading the first book in the series, I was disappoint that I wasn't able to fall in love while they did. Second, there are points when the dialog just doesn't seem genuine; for example, Slade as several points says "mouth" when he wants a kiss. I mean...really, who says that? There are also a few more points throughout the story, when the dialog just doesn't seem to flow naturally. While it personally was a bit annoying, it never seemed to effect the story or make me enjoy it any less. *I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion*
