Full Court Press (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

oookay.. I didn't know where to start.. I guest the cover book has deceived me (lol) for it really didn't meet with my expectation. I love the bad boy character but I don't think Beck was one of them, he is kinda like a jerk; and Car is sooo stupid for putting up with him. If I were treated like that, there would be no second chances. Doesn't worth my time or emotion. I also a little disturbed with the BDSM style being practiced by high school students. It would be better if they're in college I guess.. This is one of those "what the heck did I just read.." kind of books. Hard to categorize - was it YA, NA, what? I had to suspend what I think I know about high school seniors and their sex lives and just go with it. Once I did that, I have to say that I really liked this odd book with teenagers dabbling in BDSM. There were a couple of questionable parts about protection that I wondered about. I REALLY liked Beck and Carmondy and I think those two characters saved the book for me. I had some difficulty connecting with Car initially but by about 20% in I found I could relate to her and her struggles being the new girl in school trying to join the girls basketball squad. Beck was puzzling to me but his basketball moves sold me on his character. Loved him. I also really liked the backdrop of basketball to move along the plot. Very unique and appealed to me since I love basketball. Some of the writing was stilted but I so liked the story that I wanted to see where it would go. My other fave character was Anderson. Oh I wish the author would write a book with him as the MC. Andy was a dream! I sort of agree with a few other reviewers about the almost absent parenting but some of my teenage daughter's friends seem to raise themselves so apparently it is more common than I thought to go through life without much in the way of parental supervision. All in all, I liked this quirky little book and have already bought the author's next book that features some of the characters from Full Court Press.

What do You think about Full Court Press (2013)?

Definitely the best thing about this was the deceiving cover. Short review to come :-/
