I read a short snipped about Taylor-Burton in a fictional novel and was so interested in their dynamic/furious/romantic relationship that I ended up reading this book.It was so much fun to read (a bit sad at times) but wow...what a crazy and amazing couple. I love that it intertwined not only their activities and life but also much of the prose that Burton wrote and things Elizabeth would say. It's written in such a way that makes you feel, by the end, that they are two friends of yours, albeit somewhat chaotic ones...but man, do they have personality & style! I was not around when the scandal of Elizabeth & Richard happened. My husband gave this to me because he saw it on sale & thought I'd like it. Boy, was he right! I could barely put it down. Their lives were so decadent & so different from normal life. Their lives actually sounded exhausting to me but so interesting. I must add that after I finished reading this book I had to watch Cleopatra. Pictures don't do Elizabeth Taylor justice. She was truly stunning on film.
Juicy, and ultimately quite heartbreaking. Makes me want to read Burton's diaries.
