I really liked the premise of this book. I think there were a lot of really interesting things happening, and I was pleased with the world building and characterization throughout. I was a bit confused, however, by the fact that Jared is the first character introduced in the book, even though I would consider him to be a supporting character, as he quickly falls aside as the story progresses. I was disappointed that he did not play a larger role. Also, I feel that he was forgotten at the end and his story was not completed. In fact, the end disappointed me quite a bit in that it felt rushed and incomplete. The incompleteness was magnified by the epilogue which seemed really random to me. To be honest, I think my rating of this book was saved by the attention paid to characterization, even though it turned out to be incomplete. Well, it wasn't bad. Blue giants were sweet, their human mates were a bit too... permissive? They were like children, everybody else made decisions for them. They weren't even angry about being kidnapped. They were very zen about it: "Apparently fate decided that I was to be mated to an alien from outer space."All this plot and treason (Remember, remember the 5th of November!) was pretty obvious and not very developed. And I had a feeling that Kenano's and Jared's story were not well balanced. It's not easy to make it work but if there are two main characters, they both should have equaly developed soryline. As it was I actualy cared more about Jared than Kenano who was main event of the book.Last but not least - it felt like it was supposed to be first book of the series, but there's no sequel as far as I know. So some parts were just left hanging.
What do You think about G-Strain (2009)?
I loved this book, but i really wanted to hear more of phirst dawa and jared's story.
