Having read the first book in the series I had to get this one to see what happens following the cliffhanger that left me in suspense. It's like it's a complete different story. The author has taken it along a path I couldn't have predicted, and as the characters have grown up so has the storyline. I was completely surprised by who Nicola had become in the decade she and Cash were apart. I felt so sad at the end of the first book when they were ripped apart, it was heartbreaking after everything they had been through to get together, but now I see why. If it hadn't have happened they wouldn't be the people they are in this book. Cash has hardened his heart because of past events and so to a certain extent has Nicola. Nicola lost everything and now relies on herself, she doesn't want to depend on anyone and she doesn't want to appear weak, but when she comes face to face with Cash those walls that she has built begin to crumble. Cash is angry and hurt but he can't overcome his protective instincts that have always been there for Nicola. Their chosen paths are what cause them to collide and what almost causes another rift between them, until Cash realizes that as much as he hates to admit it she can take care of herself. AS soon as they meet you can feel the sexual tension in the lingering looks and side glances, and it doesn't take them long to fall into each others arms, despite their reservations. The love is intense and the sex is as hot as it gets, and I think I'm in love with Cash So we start this book off with Cash finding Nicola after she has been dead for 10 years. She was forced into witness protection when she had discovered her job was actually working for the mob. Long story short she had to leave everyone behind to save them from the mob. Now she is working for the CIA and it seams they are both working the same guy. Cash is a sniper and her brother Roman is his spotter. I love how Nicola has become quite the kick ass woman. This story had me hooked from the first chapter. Well definitely be reading the rest of this series.
