I really enjoyed this book! Not only did it play on one of my favorite subjects, angles but it had some really compelling characters and story lines as well. Caspia is completely relatable in that she is a student working full time trying to balance both of those as well as a family life! She's really strong and independent and I loved how she slowly opened up to the idea of other people helping her in her situation. One thing I really loved about this book was the way Angles were presented. There is a special way about them and their wings that I don't want to spoil because its so unique but I will say its like nothing I've ever read before and I absolutely loved it! It's always so cool to read about a new take on an old idea and thats exactly what Vicki did with this book. Then there was Logan. I was completely emotionally invested in Logan and Caspia and their struggles with Logan's illness so I'm super pleased with the way that whole thing played out! I also loved Ethan's willingness to help despite his mission because it showed a new side of him that really made me fall in love with him.I will say one thing I didn't feel was as well developed was the relationship between Caspia and Ethan. It felt a little sudden and I didn't really feel as much emotion between them as I would have liked but that didnt take away from the overall plot at all! I really enjoyed how unique and interesting this book was and I'm going to continue on with the series! I love this book!Ms. Keire has a magical way with words. Her descriptions flow and have a poetic touch that makes you feel part of the story. Someone mentioned that this doesn't move very fast until the last quarter of the book; true, but this novel has a real STORY and explosive action on every page isn't needed. This is actually my second reading of Gifts of the Blood. Like most readers I have a large to be read stack at all times and didn't get the entire trilogy until recently. Now I can read the entire set straight through and I can't wait for reading time tonight to begin Darkness in the Blood.Caspia lost her parents four years ago and now cancer is trying to claim the last of her family, her beloved brother Logan, when her gift of drawing future events reawakens. She draws a complete stranger this time in a piece that's full of beauty, danger and symbols she doesn't understand. Understandably when she meets the stranger, Ethan, hours later she doesn't take it calmly. What happens when a gifted young woman is consumed with fear and grief over her sick brother and finds herself falling in love with the man that isn't just a man, but a Nephilim. He's come to claim her brother's soul when he passes. And oh, by the way, you and your brother have Nephilim blood and bad things are coming your way!Grab a copy of Gifts of the Blood (Angel's Edge #1) to find out! I highly recommend this one for anyone that likes angels, urban fantasy or just an outstanding story.
