The story of thousands of people who still work in Arab countries.. In conditions slightly better or much worse.. Those who come to the gulf countries for making money for their sister's marriage or a new house or just to survive.. Those whose dreams get burned in the scorching sun.. Those who come for work believing that they will go home after they have just enough to survive at home, after they have built four walls in which one can sleep safely, and remain in this desert till they are old.. Those who lose their youth and energy in the attempts to make life comfortable for those who depend on him.. Those who go hungry to save enough money to call home.. Those who haven't seen their kids since they were born.. Those who believe that all this will come to an end, that they will have a happy life, which is just another mirage.. This is their story.. Tears welled my eyes as I turned pages of this book.. It was so realistic, based on real life if we are to believe the author.. I couldn't help asking.. O God.. Why did you have to give him so much pain.?! I started reading this book because of my sisters, they had been asking me to read it since long and today she borrowed a copy from her classmate and gave it to me.. Now I see why they were forcing me to read this.. The book is worth a first and second read..
What do You think about Goat Days (2008)?
A book which every Gulf Malayali should read...
